Self-reflection after an interview is critical. When we leave an interview, how many of us spend the next few hours kicking ourselves over what we did "wrong"? Which questions could I have answered better? This is natural, and is an important part of the interview preparation process - to internalize and improve upon those responses for subsequent interviews.
What most of us fail to do, however, is then spend time focusing on what we did WELL. Which questions did I knock out of the park? During which responses did my strongest skills shine? We can use that information to bring up those stories/answers proactively during future interviews, rather than waiting to be asked questions that lead to those responses. It's equally important to harness the positives both for subsequent interview prep and to remind ourselves of what we have achieved in the job search process. #jobsearch #interview #careercoach #interviewprep #careercounseling
