Just moved to Paris and my Mom and I have been to this charming restaurant twice now. Both experiences here were pleasant and the food was very tasty. First time we enjoyed the delicious salad bar and both had the chicken fried steak. It was crispy and tender. This time I had the monte Cristo, it was very good. It didn't come with a side of jam as it usually would. There were various jellies on the table which worked just fine. My mom ordered the Ruben which was good and had lots of corned beef. It could've used more sour kraut in our opinion. We got a slice of pineapple cake and a chocolate frog to go. The pineapple/cheesecake/cake confection was outstanding, I'd eat that every day if I could. The chocolate frog cake and mouse creation was oh so adorable and the mouse was delicious. We will be returning and continuing to enjoy dining at this wonderful establishment.

We were visiting Paris Illinois primarily to have a special night out and see the lights in the park. We knew they closed at 2:00 p.m. but when we arrived around 1:30 p.m. they had already started not refreshing the buffet lines. Most of the desserts were gone and a lot of the entrees on the buffet line were not adequately stocked and not very warm. A lot of the meats were not properly sliced all the way through. They were also completely out of rolls or breadsticks and had to ask for bread and got two slices of white bread which pointed out that the service was slightly better than the food quality, at least they got me something. But that was really inadequate when you consider two people eating with a bill of over $40 for the both of them, it was not very good we were told not to rush but they had already packed up and started to put many of the foods away. The salad bar was completely gone, the water was very poor quality. Quality had a very unsettling taste to it. Had to ask for a glass of milk. We got to sit by the actual gas fire fireplace which was nice but somehow that ended us up sitting right beside what we think were owners or workers at the place and had to listen to their profanity laced conversation. Now I'm sure that because it was done on Christmas day had some effect on the attitude of the staff but if it was going to affect it that much they should just not have opened or at least charged a much lower price. They asked for a minimum of 15% tip which was totally out of line as we had to go get our own food and and the wait People only cleared the table and brought us one glass of milk and two glasses of unconsumable water. I had to manually type in a 10% tip which I under the circumstances thought was generous. So to summarize, much of the food that was available was overcooked and watered down quite a bit and you can tell was sitting in the steam tray for quite some time. The selection was limited because they had already stopped restocking the lines. Be it the salad bar or the main meat meal line or the dessert line by the time we had our dessert around 2:10 which was 10 minutes. After technically closing they hardly had any dessert left. I would look for another place because I don't think the service and the food quality will improve enough to make it worthwhile and there are other choices in town.

Good food, quickly served. The sirloin was overcooked, or I'd have been able to give it 5 stars.

Pretty enjoyable meal. I had the breaded tenderloin and my wife had a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Salad bar and fries. My only criticism is that $3.50 stand alone charge for the fries and salad bar. Fries ought to come with the meal.

We really enjoyed our meals. I had lasagna and he had fried shrimp with a baked potato and green beans. We both had salad bar. I finished with a chocolate frog. Yum!

They are under new ownership. The menu has changed and is like a combo of Family Restaurant and Tuscany. You can still choose from the buffet or menu items. They have quite the bar selection, for Paris. Don't forget to save room for dessert. In fact choose your cake when you walk in, from the case. Then just eat it first to be on the safe side. With the generous portion sizes, you are going to leave full!
