I love dives and holes in the wall. They're often among the best places to grab a meal. Paradise 64 was no exception.
I stayed just around the corner at a nearby hotel, a visitor for a few days in Singapore, and was looking for something within walking distance. Two minutes and I was walking into the place. The guy at the bar greeted me and motioned to the tables, and a young lady saw to it that I was properly seated. The menu arrived and the guy from the bar popped back to ask if I had any questions. I inquired about what was good, because I don't know their menu at all. He brought another guy out from the back who recommended the garlic lamb, asked about my spiciness preference (yes, please) and a short while later it was on my table. I also inquired about naan, because who doesn't like some naan with your meal. They don't have it on the menu, but they promised me they could have it on the table. I never had a doubt, and they upheld my faith. Spicy garlic lamb and naan with a Guinness on draft. Life was good.
I don't know if they fixed it to the normal heat level, but it had some kick to it and a nice blend of chili peppers in it. It did make the nose run just a bit, and I love when my food does that. I'm in my room 10 minutes later writing this and I still feel a little warmth on the tongue and lips.
Again, a total hole in the wall place, but if you're in Little India in Singapore, stop in and have a bite. It'll be worth the trip.
