Panama City Coffee Co. strikes a thoughtful balance between quality coffee, calm atmosphere, and genuine craft—especially refreshing to see in a newer local spot.
I ordered from the Havana Specials Menu, starting with a Cuban espresso (cafecito), followed by a café con leche. The Cuban espresso leaned bold and robust, delivering that deep, unapologetic intensity you expect from a dark roast. While it was missing a bit of the classic espumita—that pale, creamy sugar foam created by whipping the first drops of espresso with sugar—it didn’t take away from the experience. As someone who truly enjoys coffee for what it is, I still found myself savoring the strength and character of the shot. A quick palate cleanse with water set the stage perfectly for what came next.
Then came the café con leche—and oh my. Smooth, balanced, and beautifully comforting, it was easily one of the best café con leches I’ve had in quite some time. The harmony between the espresso and milk was spot on, neither overpowering the other. It’s the kind of drink that reminds you why simplicity, when done right, is so powerful. I would absolutely recommend both of these drinks and look forward to working my way through more of the menu.
Beyond the coffee, the environment truly elevates the experience. Panama City Coffee Co. is ideal if you’re looking for a quiet, chill, and genuinely tranquil space—perfect for studying, getting work done, or having low-key conversations. The music sets the tone beautifully, moving through jazz and soft, atmospheric tracks that enhance focus rather than distract from it.
The baristas were welcoming and kind, which always makes a difference, but what stood out most was witnessing seasoned baristas taking the time to mentor and teach newer staff. That commitment to learning the craft properly speaks volumes about the culture behind the counter. It’s clear this place values growth, skill, and respect for coffee as an art—and it shows in the cup.
Panama City Coffee Co. is a spot I’d happily return to. It’s encouraging to see local coffee culture continuing to grow with places like this—thoughtful, calm, and rooted in a genuine love for the craft.
