We have a large outdoor patio and saw an opportunity to create a more productive and usable living space, by adding an outdoor fireplace and BBQ at our home. After scouring different ideas, we created preliminary drawings and had 3D renderings of the project generated. We researched and spoke to several contractors and received multiple bids to complete the work. After discussions with a custom homebuilder, he recommended Chris Peckham and Outdoor Living By Design, stating that he always had great results working with Chris. We met with Chris and Jessie and explained our project and were invited to see other work that they had done. After seeing the attention to detail and working with Chris and Jessie on suggestions to make our design even better we chose to go forward with Outdoor Living By Design. The process was great! Chris communicated with us throughout the project giving us a schedule, and breakdown of all the work and subcontracting needed. He provided a pricing summary and details on the materials and subcontractors he planned to use. His expertise and knowledge was valuable, selecting a heavy gage steel framework with cement board sheeting to withstand the weather and matching the stucco with our house. He had great subcontractors, ranging from gas, electrician, stucco, and sheet metal (for a custom-made powder coated fireplace hood). The entire process took just over 6 weeks, but that was due to delays in getting permits and inspections completed – which Chris kept us fully informed on. Communication with the subs worked out great. We knew when subcontractors were arriving and what to expect. Everyone was very competent, professional, and friendly. They did quality work and were tidy. The attention to detail and quality is top notch. The structure is very strong/stable, the walls are plumb, the countertops are level, and the Blaze BBQ and fireplace will last for decades. We are extremely happy with the outcome. We have a great outdoor space and would highly recommend Chris and Jessie to anyone looking to have a custom outdoor space designed, built, and completed by consummate professionals and genuinely nice people.

Chris and his crew have been doing stone work for us for 16 years. They always do exceptional work. Recently they built an outdoor kitchen on our patio with a fire pit. It has been superb. They do the best stone work. I would highly recommend Outdoor Living By Design. Chris is very creative yet he will make sure you get what you want.
