Outback Vehicle Recovery

I recently had my car completely submerged and made unsalvageable in the recent floods in Alice Springs. Needed to tow the car away for insurance assessment after being told by the residential services that we had to organise on the weekend to ensure our cars were moved. One call to OVR, Jimmy took my call and was extremely helpful in working out how quickly this could be done. He was so easy to deal with in a fairly stressful time for me. We often bag our local services but truly these guys are gems and the real deal. A colleague who did not have insurance, had just moved to Alice and in the same situation as i was treated very fairly and given a truly generous quote by these guys. We salute you guys and are truly thankful for you.

OVR are the best in the business! I contacted them before our big family road trip across Oz to have a backup plan in case our van broke down across the notorious Gibb River Road. Jimmy was super helpful with some great advice leading up to the trip. When we finally had an actual breakdown with a hole and slow leak in our radiator enroute from Broome to Darwin, he got back to me straight away evening after hours! We were in Fitzroy Crossing WA and a long way from home. Jimmy had found options for us within 15-30mins with a flatbed trailer available to freight our vehicle with all our belongings to Darwin for $7k. He offered to check a few other freight companies in the morning to see if there were more economical options to backload a road train. Sure enough, I got a message first thing the next morning with a $2k quote for a road train to take our van directly to our preferred repairer in Darwin to hopefully get us back on the road and back down home to Sydney. Jimmy is an absolute legend, not asking anything from us and refused reimbursement for his time. I cannot recommend using OVR if you find yourself and your vehicle in trouble anywhere between Alice Springs and Broome. Jimmy has really saved us a lot of stress and running around, making what could be a tricky situation quite straight forward in the end. We will definitely try dropping into Alice on our way gone to say a big thank you in person!

Whether I call with an hours notice or days prior! They are always happy to help, super friendly and professional. I’ve moved a lot of our vehicles ranging in size and weight, not one has been damaged. Will keep using them and highly recommend. Thanks so much ❤️

Rang at 8am and they were out to us by 11.30am (200kms on the Plenty Highway). Car on truck and then towed our van back to Alice. Ian was fabulous and a lover of 80s music, what more could you ask for!! Delivered van to caravan park and then dropped car off at mechanics and then returned us to the park! Excellent. Thanks a heap.

If you are stuck in Central Australia and need towing services, don't hesitate to call Outback Vehicle Recovery for help. Jimmy, Denise and Al were fantastic in coming to our rescue when we broke down in a remote Indigenous community around 800km West of Alice Springs. Al drove for nearly 11 hours over badly corrugated roads to come and recover our vehicle, and then transported it and my wife and I back to Alice Springs so that we could organise suspension repairs for our car. Al even dropped us off at a caravan park and hire car place, before taking our car back to their depot and storing it securely until we could organise repairs to be done. They also dropped our car off at the repairer. A great family business providing excellent service to their customers.

Highly recommend OVR for towing and roadside assistance in central Australia. I had a horrible experience with an Alice Springs diesel mechanic where our car was being ‘repaired’ and Jimmy, Denise and Ian went above and beyond to help us retrieve it, not once but twice! They went out of their way to provide extra support in a time of need and restored my faith that honest, trustworthy and professional businesses do exist in Alice. Recently my partner and I were stuck in a nasty situation with a broken down car in central australia. We had very few options and no one familiar to turn to. The team at outback vehicle recovery were recommended to me for a vehicle relocation and they delivered beyond expectations. We were originally towed to the township of Yulara by another tow company and overcharged and taken advantage of. Said company then charged us $275 to “diagnose” a blown head gasket and then refused to work on the repairs. We were given a limited allowance from RAA to allow for a tow to Alice Springs and the team at outback vehicle recovery were the first people to listen to us and actually provide us with a solution. They understood that we were in a tight situation and worked with us and the RAA to provide a solution to get us home safely. They met our allowed budget which was half the price of the previous company who towed our vehicle and also provided the contacts we needed in Alice Springs to have our car freighted back to Adelaide. This was not within their job description but they went above and beyond to give 2 people who were stranded , a way out and a confident resolution to what seemed like a nightmare we weren’t getting out of. They also facilitated transport to accomodation, and to the Alice Springs airport after all of their hard work was done, free of charge. So a huge thank you goes to Ian, Denise and Jimmy and the extended team at outback vehicle recovery. We are extremely grateful and next time we are in Alice we will be sure to give you mob a bell. 6 stars if I could ! Legends.

My best mate and I had the misfortune of having a broken chassis on our caravan some 330 kms north of Alice Springs. By way of a third party Jimmy at Outback Vehicle Recovery rang my sat Phone and said that someone would be on their way in about 30 mins. Dave turned up, loaded the van and took off for Alice. Jimmy kindly agreed to keep the van in the safety of his depot and delivered it to a mate of his for repairs on Monday, out Wednesday and on our way again.
