How to Clean Grout Haze & Stains Off
Accrington Brick — After Repointing with Coloured Grout
If you’ve finished repointing Accrington brick using an external coloured grout or mortar, you’re probably left with a common problem: dried-on grout dust, haze or slight staining across the face of the bricks.
We recently tackled this exact issue on a property finished in traditional Accringtons and found a solution that worked perfectly — with no damage to the bricks, no harsh fumes, and great results.
We used Azpects EASYCare Grout Residue Cleaner, applied neat with a sponge and gave the whole area a solid scrub using firm, even pressure. After that, we let it sit for around 10 minutes — just enough time to break down the fine residue — and then hosed it off with clean water from top to bottom.
We focused the rinse around the middle of the wall to allow the water to wash evenly downward, helping avoid streaks and stopping the cleaner from drying unevenly.
Once dry, we simply repeated the process. Any small spots left behind were easily removed with a quick second scrub. The end result? The bricks came up looking brand new — no haze, no staining, and the colour of the Accringtons really popped.
✅ No damage to the face of the brick
✅ Works on coloured grout
✅ No acid burns or patchy results
