When choosing a ceramic material for dental restoration, there are two main choices: PyroCeram and NeoCeram. Both materials have pros and cons, so how do you decide which is right for you?
PyroCeram is a clear, white ceramic glass that can withstand high temperatures. It was initially developed for aircraft windows to withstand the extreme temperatures encountered during flight. But PyroCeram has many other uses, including cookware, fireplace doors, and laboratory equipment.
NeoCeram or Neo Ceramic is a newer type of transparent ceramic developed in the early 2000s. It has many of the same properties as PyroCeram but can also use in optical applications.
However, NeoCeram contains additional ingredients, such as zirconia and titanium. NeoCeram was developed for use in dental restoration and had a lower melting point than PyroCeram. NeoCeram is also less solid and wear-resistant than PyroCeram.
So, which type of ceramic is right for you? If you are looking for a strong and wear-resistant material, PyroCeram is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a material with a lower melting point, NeoCeram is better.
