Two Hard to Believe Reasons Why You Must Have an Attorney When Buying Real Estate in Brazil
No Title Insurance
Buyers in the US and other countries can count on title insurance. For a few thousand dollars you get the peace of mind that you will have a big name company footing the losses in the event you bought a bad-title property. In Brazil? No such a thing. You are on your own and good luck suing the seller to recover your money!
No Escrow Account
There is simply no escrow accounts in Brazil. There are no well-funded entities acting as escrow entities and if you ask 99% of the sellers and realtors in the country about it, they will have no clue what you are talking about.
These two facts alone should be enough for every single foreign buyer to secure a real estate attorney in Brazil when buying properties in the country.
