Oakwood House Care Home

My mother needed complete 24 hour care urgently. I contacted Oakwood house and arranged a visit. We were given a comprehensive, caring and sensitive tour of all the facilities. We were luckily able to chose a lovely room for my Mum and arrange a rapid assessment and moving in date. Mum received excellent care throughout her stay. The staff were extremely friendly, compassionate, and professional, not only to my Mum but also to myself. This applies to everyone whatever there role. We have now had three relatives who have stayed at Oakwood House and have found the staff to be caring and considerate of individual needs and requirements. The food is excellent and there are organised activities each day so something to please most residents. The hairdresser visits weekly along with singers, animals, choirs, school visits and trips outs. In the warmer weather residents have walks or gatherings in the garden enjoying coffee mornings or afternoon tea. The staff work very hard to ensure everyone's needs are met and we have found them to be discreet and confidential. Too many staff to mention individually but we noticed a bad review for Shirley earlier and have to say we have found her to be excellent and caring in every way.

I recently came to Oakwood House for their Open Afternoon and was blown away by the level of care and quality of life that the people living there have. It was so much fun! We all had a picnic outside, there was live music, lovely food, laughter, singing, sunshine- it was a beautiful day- and in such lovely surroundings too! It completely changed my mindset on care homes. Thank you to all the team there for making it so special :)

I recently had a chat with Oakwood house regarding care for my grandad which led onto a tour around the home and I could not have left feeling more reassured! My grandad has been at Oakwood for 2 weeks now and after transitioning into his ‘new normal’ absolutely loves it! Finding somewhere that genuinely cares about their residents is something that’s proved difficult so far past the first initial look around, but after looking round Oakwood I finally felt reassured that my grandad would be receiving the care he needs while still keeping his independence. The activities they have on offer are amazing - they have such a good variety and I love that they’re always making days for activities to include family of the residents. Thank you Oakwood for giving me peace of mind and lifting a weight off my shoulders knowing my grandad will be in good care without me having to worry about him being on his own.

A very good place for the elderly to delightfully live their life. Various activities organized for the residents by the staff and the periodic visits of entertainers from outside keep the residents happy and lively. Monthly visit of a pastor literally keeps the residents ( those who prefer) spiritually enriched

This place has worked wonders looking after my great grandfather. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. He walked in there very unwell and thanks to the team is now healthier and happier than he has been in years. Special thanks to Emma the home manager for always being just a call away.

Absolutely fantastic care provided, they offer great activities, food and all the staff are always welcoming and helpful. They also hold regular meetings for relatives which is helpful.

Staff are exceptionally good and work together as a team. It's a lovely home for the residents as well. They are all well looked after and receive personalised care.

My Mum Brenda has been receiving treatment at Oakwood House over the last four months. During her time there one particular person, Shakira has gone above and beyond in the care she provides to Mum. She has a positive can do attitude and nothing is too much trouble. I know if I ask Shakira to do something it will be done. She is friendly, bubbly and always very kind to me and my family when we visit and my Mum thinks the world of her.

My 97 year old mother was at another facility local to Oakwood. I wish she had never set foot in there. Oakwood have demonstrated to me what excellent care can and should be. She wants for nothing, all her needs are met by an excellent team including but not limited to Kelly Edwards, her keyworker, and Shirely Taylor, the Senior. There is a nice atmosphere in the home, where a contented work force well lead by Helen, promotes the well being of every resident.
