Push, pull, lift, carry and haul your way through this unique and practical movement session with Dr. Jeni Gall, physical therapist and movement expert.
Working out in class or with a trainer is the best way to be sure we are focused on form and maximize our gains. The things we do every day, outside the gym, can be opportunities to use skills from the gym to get life done more effectively and without injury.
In this workshop, we will practice:
- Front-loading and core stabilizing with crock pots and other heavy household items.
- Deadlifting, hip hinging and heavy lifting with soil, sandbags and garden pots.
- Leveraging hip mobility for weeding, cleaning and otherwise getting down low.
- Overhead loading for bike racks, roof cargo, kayaks and canoes.
- Timing, pacing, and teamwork for lifting, sliding and carrying furniture.
Dr. Jeni is a licensed physical therapist as well as an avid gardener, home project organizer, resident furniture hauler and mother of two teens, which requires a lot of heavy lifting and time spent cleaning. She attends a variety of group classes and practices what she knows about movement while doing laundry, cooking, moving dirt, rocks and plants, and packing for road trips.
