Cold weather can affect more than just your pipes — it can impact your water heater, too.
If your water heater or furnace suddenly stops working, one thing to check is the vent outside your home. During a recent service call, we found that a customer’s water heater had shut down because snow had blocked the exterior vent, cutting off proper airflow. Once the snow was cleared and the vent opened, the unit was relit and returned to normal operation.
After heavy snowfall, take a moment to make sure vents for your furnace and water heater are clear of snow and ice. It’s a simple step that can prevent unexpected shutdowns and keep your system running safely.
