We recently completed an installation of two Navien tankless water heaters connected in a cascade system.
A cascade setup allows multiple tankless units to work together as one system. This helps provide a higher volume of hot water when demand increases, while maintaining efficiency during normal use. The system automatically balances the workload between the units, which can help extend the lifespan of the equipment.
This type of configuration is often used in larger homes or situations where several hot water fixtures may be used at the same time.
The photos show part of the installation process, including the piping layout and the cascade connection between the two Navien units.
If you are considering upgrading to a tankless system or need higher hot water capacity, a cascade installation can sometimes be a practical solution depending on the home’s needs.
