Writing this review five years later as I recall the experience. I had initially written a five star review as they requested constantly via text post-servicing, which seems to be their policy and explains all their five star reviews.
In 2021, I got into a car accident and my car was towed here and “fixed.” The process went a week longer than it was supposed to and even once it was fixed, there were issues with the dash’s check engine light. The check engine light was not on before the accident and was 100% a result of it. Yet, I was gaslit and told by their manager that the check engine light issue was pre-existing prior to the accident and not their responsibility to fix, which it wasn’t.
Still, I asked them to fix it and they did for an additional fee, only for it to come back on days later. I went back to them but they said the light’s “just on, it’s not an issue,” so I told them I’d get a second opinion and was told they’d refund me if a different mechanic found the issue.
I got a second opinion at the now closed Joy AutoBody off Wilshere and they found that the issue was in the rewiring that New Smile had done post-accident. Not a big issue, but it was 100% their fault and Joy’s owner called them about it to tell them it was their fault. Naturally, I had to pay Joy Auto for their work in actually fixing it. But when I went back to New Smile, I only got half of the money in the refund for the wiring they did incorrectly. They refused to pay the full despite the first verbal agreement. It seemed like they fixed the car well enough, but clearly not to the extent that they said had, choosing to gaslight me today. Fast forward to day, it turns out my front brake (which they also serviced post accident) have really bad calipers (the car was a only a years old at that point and calipers rarely need to be replaced, my car is a 2016 model), making me question what else they may have skimped on.
