Performed comprehensive arboricultural maintenance on two Acer saccharinum (silver maples) and two Prunus cerasifera (flowering plums) in accordance with ANSI A300 pruning standards and ISA best practices. Both silver maples received a detailed crown cleaning, selectively removing deadwood, epicormic shoots, and structurally weak or crossing branches to mitigate the risk of branch failure and improve structural integrity. Canopy thinning was strategically executed to reduce wind sail and enhance interior light penetration, promoting balanced secondary growth and overall vigor.
On the flowering plums, a combination of crown cleaning and crown raising was performed, carefully elevating the canopy for improved clearance and aesthetic form. Extensive weight reduction cuts were applied on overextended laterals to decrease end-loading stress, particularly where codominant stems and included bark posed potential hazards. One of the plums underwent significant canopy restructuring to rejuvenate the tree and stimulate new, vigorous shoot development, while maintaining natural form and symmetry. All pruning cuts were made to proper lateral branches or the branch collar to facilitate proper wound compartmentalization and long-term tree health.
