As a parent of two daughters with complex needs, finding therapies that genuinely make a difference can be incredibly challenging.
My eldest daughter (9) has Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 3, along with anxiety, verbal dyspraxia, fine motor delays, and significant speech and language difficulties, particularly with social communication. My youngest daughter (8) has Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 2, as well as social anxiety disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, ADHD (combined type), and sensory processing disorder. Day-to-day life can often be overwhelming, and their needs can present with very complex behavioural challenges.
While visiting Jindabyne last year, we decided to try neurofeedback at Alpine Neurotherapy Clinic for around 4–5 weeks—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made.
During that short time, we began to see truly meaningful changes in both of our girls.
Lara is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and compassionate. She took the time to understand each of my daughters and made us feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process.
The changes we observed were remarkable:
Speech that was previously paused, effortful, and included stuttering became noticeably more fluent.
Sensory sensitivities reduced significantly, one of my daughters, who previously couldn’t tolerate most clothing, was able to comfortably wear a one-piece swimsuit with thin straps, something that would have been unthinkable before.
Emotional regulation improved, with fewer reactive responses and a greater ability to guide and support them through challenging moments.
Situations that would typically lead to meltdowns became manageable.
One particularly memorable moment was staying out past 9pm visiting a family we had only just met—previously, anything past 7pm would almost certainly result in a meltdown. Instead, she communicated with her sister(mum when needed) and worked through her emotions, and the transition to bed afterward was surprisingly smooth.
Both girls became more able to express their emotions and communicate how they were feeling, with noticeable improvements in overall communication, behaviour, and social interaction.
Attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity improved, making day-to-day activities feel far more manageable.
We saw clearer thinking, improved information processing, and better focus, along with noticeable improvements in memory and overall mental sharpness.
Episodes of sudden, intense fear and physical anxiety symptoms reduced significantly, helping both girls feel calmer and more in control.
There was increased willingness to try new things, something as simple as asking to taste watermelon was a huge milestone for us.
Most significantly, the girls were able to come off all medication without any concerns.
It’s difficult to put into words how much these changes have meant to our family. The progress we saw in such a short period of time was beyond anything we expected.
We are so grateful to Lara for her dedication and care—her work has truly made a positive impact on our daughters’ lives.
I would highly recommend Alpine Neurotherapy Clinic to any family looking for support.
