I would rate my experience buying prepaid contract with Neptune a 6 out of 10. The process by which one “closes” the transaction is rigid, cumbersome and if one has all of one’s faculties is a little insulting. Even after 2 meetings and time to digest the information, you can’t just ask that an agreement be prepared that includes the services you want, you have to have a third 1-2 hour meeting to go over each paragraph as it’s explained… again. Then you have to do it again after you review the result of the third meeting. That’s another hour-ish meeting. In addition, the items that were important to me, specifically scattering remains with family present which cost about $1100 than just staff scattering was not something that would be coordinated with the family. The family would simply be advised when the scattering would occur. Plus, this isn’t a term described fully in the agreement. Furthermore, while Neptune says it has various locations for scattering, the legal documents only reference scattering at sea. My confidence level that my family will get what I paid for is only about 85%.
Neptunes survey after I signed the shreement asked why I agreed to participate in survey. I did it because I didn’t perceive any intent to misrepresent any service or contractural term, but found the written agreement did not always conform with what was represented. Also, packaging merchandise items whose prices are not fixed by the agreement with services whose prices are fixed seems like a trap for the surviving family members who would want to do what the deceased wants.
