What’s really blown me away since launching this company is just how much impact we’re able to have on our team. These guys are out working hard all day—and then they’re back at the shop laughing, smiling, and cutting up like it’s the best part of their day.
That wasn’t always the case. A few years ago, the energy was different. People were clocking in and out with their heads down. So what changed?
We got honest about what wasn’t working. The truth is, we weren’t investing in our people. It was a “boss and employee” mindset. Get the job done and move on. But that wasn’t sustainable, and it definitely wasn’t fulfilling—for anyone.
Today, I’m so thankful we made the shift. We started focusing on training, personal and professional development, and making sure our team had the tools they needed to succeed. That’s when things really turned around.
At the end of the day, our success isn’t because we read a P&L or watched our KPIs closely—those matter, but they’re not our top priority.
Here’s what is:
1. The wellbeing, ethics, and personal growth of our team
2. The full client experience—from the first call to the final Google review
We’re here because of the people around us. I’m incredibly grateful for our team, our community, and the city of Grand Rapids for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to keep raising the bar—for fence installation and for each other.
Together, we really are raising all ships.
