Worst Service Experience – Avoid at All Costs
Hired Navpoint Garage Doors, Surrey to convert my carport into a garage. It was a straightforward job, and I didn’t choose them for price (in fact, they were one of the most expensive quotes I received) — I chose them purely for promised timelines. That was my mistake.
From the very start, the admin/front desk experience was frustrating. Even after 10+ requests to correct my name on invoices they kept sending everything with the wrong name. If a company can’t get a customer’s name right after multiple reminders, what does that say about attention to detail?
Like many garage door companies, they subcontract installs — which can work fine if managed well. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. My door panels arrived with visible coffee/tea stains. The installer tried to clean them but couldn’t. I expected Navpoint to step in, contact the manufacturer, and explain next steps. Instead, there was zero proactive communication. No call. No email. Just an invoice for the full balance the very next day.
I withheld payment until the damage issue was addressed. For almost a month, I heard nothing — no text, no follow-up email, nothing. Then suddenly I get a message saying payment is overdue, claiming they “tried to call every day but couldn’t reach me.” I had full reception in Canada the entire time and can prove there were no missed calls from them. If a client hasn’t paid and you truly can’t reach them, wouldn’t you try email or a site visit?
When the owner (“Nav”) finally came to fix the paint, he arrived visibly irritated, complaining and implying it wasn’t his problem since they’re “just the installers” and the manufacturer was to blame. Imagine buying a new car from a dealer with scratches and being told, “We just sell them — complain to the manufacturer.” That’s the level of accountability I got.
He did the touch-up, but the frustration and lack of professionalism were obvious. At no point did I feel like they cared about making it right — only about getting paid.
Bottom line: Poor communication, lack of ownership when problems arise, and a dismissive attitude from the top down. If you’re in Coquitlam/Surrey, know that garage door installers in the area already have a reputation for subpar service — and unfortunately, Navpoint fits right in. I would not recommend them to anyone who values professionalism, responsiveness, and accountability.
