Second positive experience. On both occasions of taking my boat here price was what he said it was going to be and he did what he said he would do. Communication was excellent and friendly. Boat was finished faster than I expected. Highly recommend!

I wasn't going to leave a review but after more thought, I decided people need to know my experience. I bought this boat with wiring issues that I stated when I took the boat there. I had the boat running and in the water and the engine cut off and the trim didn't work. The wiring is a complete mess from previous owner that rewired it. I also had John take a look at the fuel gauge that wasn't working and also the power trim would not stay up. I got a call that the boat was done and my bill was $737.00 Well he said they spent all day on trying to figure out the wiring, and ended up replacing a fuse in the engine. The power trim they didn't look at and the fuel sending unit, he said they couldn't remove and it was the wrong one and said it was the wrong gas tank for the boat. I got it home and had the fuel sending unit off in 2 minutes or less. And it is the correct sending unit. To top it off is what he wrote on my receipt. What a waste of time and money. Never again. $737.00 for a fuse * UPDATE * After getting it home and having someone else look at it , we realized that the Nautical doctor cut a bunch of wires under the dash and just left it with bare wires and nothing working. Either they don't know what they were doing or they did it for spite !! NO , IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT !!

Best place around town to take your boat in! I took mine in with a bad engine coupling (i believe) Took them 3 days to fix! Be back on the weekend wakeboarding super excited! While they already had the motor out, they addressed some small issues kinda. Found my starter loose & could have costed me a new motor if all the bolts came off, fixed loose cables, new gaskets, even cleaned up some oil on the engine needless to say i will definitely be coming back!

Ok, Mr John has finally convinced me that there is nothing wrong with my boat besides the Operator. He did what I asked, and gave me some good advice that worked. Great job and thank you.

1993 Sprint Boat with 1991 Force 90 hp Outboard Motor. Motor just quit as I was cruising above Cumberland River Hwy 231 bridge. Call Nautical Doctor, He said to bring it by. Said he charges one hour labor Diagnostics fee ($100), He called me the next day and said the power pack had gone out. It would be around $400 to replace and install it. Also asked if the Impeller had been changed out. Told him to go ahead and install new impeller on lower unit. Told me it would be around $200 for that. Said the parts would be there the next day and it should be ready the following day. He called me that day and said it was ready and gave me the total price. Price was exactly what we discussed on the phone. Picked up the boat and we test fired it on site. Started on the first try. Still have not tested it on the lake yet, but I am sure it will run well. Satisfied customer. Thanks Randall

Been using this shop for years. John is a man of integrity. If he says he’s going to do something it gets done. We had an oversight on our build and he went above and beyond to make it right. We are very happy with The Nautical Doctor!

Have had my Astro 18FSX/175hp Mercury in for service (4-5 times) and a few repairs over the past 6 years. John and the Nautical Dr team are consistent and know boats, no doubt. I have not had an issue with any service or repair. Pricing is very reasonable and timing for completed work is great.

John and his crew at The Nautical Doctor are top notch. Very knowledgeable and honest. Over the past few years I have had everything from mechanical work to oil changes to a complete custom upholstery job done here. All of the work has been done on time and never gone above the discussed costs. Truly a one-stop marine shop for anything you need.

I would avoid this boat repair shop at all cost!! Poor workmanship, not on time, and dishonest. I brought my fishing boat to this shop for an engine rebuilt after an estimate $3600. I was told by the owner, John, that the boat would be finished for sure in 3 weeks. I waited for 4 weeks and finally called them. The boat was still not done. Reasons after reasons, finally it took them the total of 7 weeks to get done with the final price of $4267. I was told by the owner as well that I have 90 days warranty on the newly built engine. After back from the shop, my boat was never the same. I was never a turn key start. I had to either squeeze the fuel bulb or pull the idle handle in order to start it. It was also keep stalling on me once in a while for no reason. 4 weeks later, with less than 10 hours of run after the rebuild, the boat was still in break-in mode. It started giving me the 6 beeps critical signal. I brought it back to Nautical Doctor for a check due to it keeps giving me problems. The owner, John, told me that I blew up the engine because I did not put oil in this 2 strokes engine. This was absolutely not true because I always fill the oil reservoir to the top with genuine Mercury Optimax oil before every single trip out. There was never any low-oil alarm ever. Technically, he blame me for not keeping up with the oil level. However, the poor work that he and his less-than-standard crew did to my engine was actually the cause. He did not perform a good repair job on my engine initially and now when it broke down again, the guy did not honor his 90 days warranty promise. Every one, you are warned. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS !! They will waste your time, your money, and your trust. All you got will be time wasting and frustration. I had to bring the boat back twice for some starting and running issues after the rebuild in the first 3 weeks before the engine finally blew up on me. Dealing with him and his crews, my experience was they had no clue what they were doing and their knowledge about the new generation of outboard is almost zero. They were treating a computerized fuel injection outboard just like a old carburetor one. He told me he had a hard time communicating with the outboard main computer when I brought it back for the first time and now told me that the computer showed the engine blew up because of low oil. I can't trust this crook. He is a liar and a mean person. Stay away, every one !! On the other hand, he even used regular plastic zip tides on my main gas line and other fuel pipes. That was a big safety issue too! We work so hard to find the money for our boating pleasure. We don't need to deal with mechanics like this one. I was stupid to use their service. However, I consider that I took one for the team. Please learn from my terrible disposition so you don't have to be in one. Thank you for reading. I prefer to not give them any star at all if Google lets me. What a horrible experience.
