Checked in really late. Service is what you would expect at 3:00 a.m. but hassle-free and when asked, the receptionist gave me extra amenities such as soap, a toothbrush kit, and shampoo. The room, although old and worn, is what you'd expect. Not the greatest, not the worst. But the morning staff was awesome! Allowing me to get some of their great coffee even though it was past their Continental breakfast time frame. She was very warm, pleasant and helpful! A great way to start the day!

I left and went to another hotel, didn't even unpack. The desk clerk was very nice. The grounds were tidy. That's where the positive ended, though. The rooms aren't just older and "out of fashion", they're downright filthy and smell. It got worse when I turned on the ancient AC unit, then the room began smelling like a port-a-potty. Toilet barely flushed, caulking on the floor leaking. Dead flies in window, dirt all over door and door jam. Bedding smelled weird, and I was only sitting on the bed, had not even turned down quilt yet. Floor had a strange grimy film. I would rather sleep in my car in July than stay there. Do NOT recommend!!

I have got to stay at this location as I had to cancel my reservation, but in order to get to staff for cancellation, it truly was an awful experience. The front end staff unfortunately acted unprofessionally and rudely when I called in to cancel. They were discerning and simply made the process a lot harder than its suppose to be! I was told that apparently only a manager can authorize a cancellation and the manager never seemed to be around! When I left my contact with the front desk, I was never called back. If people over the phone are such exceptionally horrible, I can only imagine the service in person! I would stay away from staying here in the future!

[ To the 1-3 star reviewers: We regret to hear you didn't find the modern hotel luxuries you've come to expect while staying across the street from a truck stop four miles outside Buttonwillow. You've now forced myself and other reviewers to give five star reviews just to even out your baseless ranting and raving. ] Yes, it looks straight out of the 70s because that's when it was built. That's like complaining about how old everything looks at a museum. As for the color, younger people don't understand just how brown and orange everything was back then, but stepping into one of these rooms will take you right back in time. The beds are comfortable, bathrooms well kept and reliable, and rooms are a decent size. Most importantly [in my opinion], the giant air conditioner does not disappoint, even in 90+ degree heat. There's an Indian food restaurant just past the parking lot with meat and vegan options, and a 24 hour truck stop that has food and drink, travel supplies, clothing, gifts, and even a laundromat. Found myself going to another restaurant down the street for every meal and was surprised at the quality of everything in such a remote location.

This place is old and run down. The floor in my room was sticky. The towels looked like they had been used (wrinkled and folded oddly) After entering the room, I decided to sleep in my car. The guy at the front desk was friendly and polite but sadly the room was not a place I wanted to sleep.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I just had to share my experience at the National 9 Inn I-5. This place has quickly become one of my favorite hotels to stay at. The staff, especially the manager and the people in the office, are absolutely amazing. They were so helpful, kind, and genuinely wonderful to deal with. You can tell they care about their guests, and that made all the difference. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and very clean. Everything felt well taken care of, and the bed was comfortable. It’s in a quiet, peaceful area—perfect for relaxing after a long day of traveling. If you're passing through or need a restful place off the I-5, I highly recommend staying here. The hospitality and comfort really make it truly stand out.

The front desk guy is always friendly. Clean room, dog friendly, couldn’t ask for more considering the price.

The location was perfect. It gave us a restful night of sleep before we continue. The room was roomy and clean. It comes with fridge, microwave and simple free breakfast. Front desk staffs were helpful. We will definitely come back.

Rooms need to be redone and cleaned. Only stayed here because I drove 500miles and needed a bed. No breakfast available. You get what you pay for.
