We're a family-friendly narrowboat rental company providing the perfect way to explore the beautiful countryside around Tring, Herts. Our boats are each licensed and insured for ten souls—so you can hire one or both for a day trip on the scenic Grand Union canals.
After a quick training session, you can head out along your chosen route— with or without locks.
You'll find pubs and other places to get a bite to eat along the canal, not to mention the beautiful scenery. A great day out for bargees of all ages!
We provide life vests, diesel and welcome pets on board. There's a bathroom with hot running water, a kitchenette with a gas hob (with crockery & a fridge), and seating for ten people.
Sorry, no 'booze cruises', stag or hen parties.

We hired Lavender out for the day on Saturday and had the most amazing day. The process of booking was super easy, we had a few questions beforehand so called up and got all the answers we needed. We arrived a bit early on the morning and were able to wait on the boat until the rest of the party arrived. There were 9 of us, plus 1 dog and we honestly all had the best day, it’s amazing how quickly 7.5 hours goes when you’re having fun. We headed towards Marsworth which was beautiful and one of the things we all loved was how friendly all the other boaters were and also people just going for a stroll along the canal, literally everyone spoke to us, such a great community. Thanks Narrowboat day hire for a brilliant day, full of memories. We’ve already said this is going to be our annual event ⚓️⛴️🏴☠️

We hired this on Sunday 11th for a 70th birthday. In the run up we spoke with Steve and on the day we were welcomed by Gavin.
We got the boat at 9am and dropped off at 4:30pm. The instructions were clear, simple and communicated well.
We had a fridge, lots of crockery, glassware and cutlery. Sounds silly but lots of spare loo roll!
The boat was clean, easy to steer and clearly well maintained. Good parking availability on site as well
I’ll definitely be looking to book again.
