Ravana is a well known demon from our Indian mythology. Ravana was a devout disciple of Lord Brahma, the creator of all. After having been blessed with the celestial juice of immortality by Lord Brahma, he started praying to Lord Shiva to earn his blessings to be named his prime disciple in the Universe. Ravana was a great scholar and ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He is also known as Dasa-naan or Dasa-sheesha, the person with ten heads. Shiv even awarded him with the Chandrahas (a crescant moon-shaped sword), while Goddess Parvati granted him the boon that no enemy of his would be able to defeat him without her permission.
