If your exterior paint is peeling in Central Florida after only three
years, the paint is rarely the problem. What happened before the paint
went on usually is.
Three things to check on your own home this weekend.
First, timing. If a crew painted during a humid summer afternoon,
moisture got trapped under the film and started lifting it within
months. Florida humidity sits above 70 percent most of the year, and
paint needs a dry, steady window to cure.
Second, prep. No pressure washing, no sanding, no primer means the
coat had nothing to grab. Skipping primer is the fastest way to
guarantee an early repaint.
Third, color and product. Dark shades and budget paint fade and chalk
in two to four years under our sun. The 2026 move is toward light
neutrals, warm whites, and soft coastal blues that reflect UV and hold
their color far longer, paired with a quality acrylic built for
humidity.
