Most kitchen remodel regrets we hear in Kissimmee have nothing to do with tile or countertop color. They come down to layout.
A bad layout fights you quietly. You are always stepping around someone. The open dishwasher blocks the drawer you need. Two people cannot work in there without a dance.
Three things you can check this week with a tape measure.
One. The walkway around your island. The industry standard is 42 inches of clear space on every side, and 48 inches on the cooking side. If you come up short, the problem is usually not a small room. It is an oversized island.
Two. The distance between sink, stove and refrigerator. Each leg should land roughly between 4 and 9 feet. Too far apart and every meal costs you extra steps. Too close and nobody can help you cook.
Three. Door swings. Open the dishwasher, the oven and the refrigerator one at a time and see what each one blocks. If a door traps someone in a corner, that is the layout, not the appliance.
Layout is the most expensive thing to fix later. Moving plumbing or gas after the cabinets are set turns a finish update into a demo job.
We see this every week on jobs across Kissimmee, Orlando and Winter Park, and after 20 plus years the pattern holds. The kitchens people love are the ones where the layout got solved first.
