We loved the paddle and hike expedition we took with Moose Pass Adventures. Our guide, Jen, owner, outdoorswoman, adventurer, naturalist, historian and storyteller, shared knowledge and lore throughout the day and made the trip truly memorable. The incredible beauty of Grant Lake wowed us. The camp Moose Pass Adventures has built at Grant Lake is impressive. We enjoyed paddling up to a waterfall, taking a dip in the glacial waters, and eating a delicious lunch on a cool beach next to the water. I would give the tour my highest recommendation.

JD picked us up at our hotel and took us on a true Alaskan adventure. I wasn’t sure what to expect, because a friend booked the trip. I just knew I was in Alaska and wanted to see everything I could. JD made that happen. He had a plan, however he also listened to us and our conversations and adjusted the trip accordingly. We saw all things Alaska, a glacier, hiking, salmon, his home town, beluga whales, mountain goats, the nature conservation area, beautiful scenery & so much more. I felt after the first day that if I didn’t do anything else the whole trip, I walked away really feeling like I saw the real Alaska! If you book with them, you won’t regret it.

Fantastic! We rented a 2 seater kayak and kayaked for about 3 hours (that felt like 30min haha). One of the highlights of our trip, weather was perfect. Jen explained to us where to go, where not to go, what to do in case of emergency, and then off we went. We haven’t kayaked in a hot minute but it was easy enough to pick it back up, the current is not hard to paddle against. We can’t wait to be back!

The two night glamping & kayaking stay was incredible! After kayaking and hiking in, our group of 8 people setup up in two yurts for two nights. The amenities were just enough for a camping trip, making it the perfect “glamping” experience. The yurts were super comfortable! We had a nice dinner along with a nice campfire and were able to drink filtered water right from the lake. So cool! Kayaking Grant Lake was so fun too. We saw waterfalls, stuck our faces in glacial water, found caves and saw old abandoned mining cabins. We picked wild strawberries, blueberries, crowberries and watermelon berries the whole way … it was amazing. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone that wants to fully experience this area. Grant Lake simply cannot be fully enjoyed without at at least two nights to do it. I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We did the Grant Lake Kayak and Hike Tour with Jen and Ruby as our guides. Now this is Alaska.. Just us, Jen and Ruby, beautiful mountains and an off the beaten path mountain lake. This was the first day of relaxation with no people or gift shops. We thought we were the only people in Alaska that day. We began with a nice paddle to the “Original” Iditarod sled dog trail which we hiked to our back country lake where more kayaks were waiting. From there we paddled across a crystal clear lake to view a glacier waterfall close up while the sounds of loons serenaded us along the way. If you want to see Alaska, the way the gold miners saw it, this is your adventure.

Five stars all the way! Jen was an amazing guide and historian. The views and two lakes were gorgeous, especially Grant Lake. I would highly recommend this adventure to experience a taste of Alaska backcountry.

Oh. My. Goodness. Today’s experience with J.D. was so perfect. All of the details and itinerary were laid out wonderfully. He made us feel so comfortable with his overview of water safety, how to use the equipment & what to expect during the day. He was so knowledgeable about all of the history to the land that we were able to explore, the animals, and plants that are native to Alaska. We learned SO MUCH ! He took photos with his personal phone and was able to air drop them to us. The location of the areas we explored were so picture perfect I cannot express how absolutely beautiful Grant Lake is. I was so impressed with the Yurt and campsite he built by hand with his family on the edge of Grant lake and I cannot wait to visit again and hopefully stay the night. J.D was also able to assist in me planning my brother’s proposal to his girlfriend and was so accommodating in keep the secret and finding the perfect spot for him to pop the question. We were blessed with amazing weather on our trip and I wouldn’t change a single thing. If you have the opportunity to take a tour with Moose Pass Adventures. You will not be disappointed.

My family and I went kayaking with Moose Pass Adventures last June and it was amazing. They were so kind and it was a lot of fun even during the rain. They took us to an island and we saw the train passing by and waved at them. They gave us extra gear to borrow and provided tea too. We also stayed in their air bnb which was also amazing. This is a great company owned by a local family please book with them! :)

One of my bucket list items for our trip to Alaska was to kayak on a blue glacial lake. We found Moose Pass Adventures after a quick google search and called immediately. Jen was incredibly helpful, friendly, and accommodating. She gave a very thorough safety briefing, showed us all of the equipment, and explained how to best navigate the lake. The kayaks were comfortable and well cared for. My husband is 6'3" and has a hard time feeling comfortable, but we had plenty of room in the large tandem kayak. It was certainly a dream float to have the lake to ourselves! We got to see the float planes taking off and flying around the valley. It was truly a beautiful experience! Thank you!!

Gorgeous scenery and the guides were friendly and helpful. It was neat to learn the history of moose pass. It’s usually a 2 seater kayak unless you request otherwise. The way out was great but the way back was difficult paddling against the current. Not their fault but at the end I was frustrated and just done. Bring lots of patience with you. Overall a good experience.
