Here are 10 tips to prevent mold growth in your bathroom:
1) Get a good exhaust fan and run it regularly, not just while you're showering or bathing.
2) Squeegee your shower doors, shower walls and tub. This will help reduce the moisture in the room.
3) Fix all leaks right away.
4) Wash rugs, towels and shower curtains regularly.
5) Make sure your ducts and AC stay clean. Many time the mold we find in showers or bathrooms stems from mold in the AC unit and ducts. The spores land where there is moisture and organic material and starts to colonize. The shower has everything needed to keep mold happy!
6) If there's a lot of tile in your bathroom, consider resealing your grout every year or so to prevent moisture seepage into hairline cracks. Cracks create an entryway for moisture to seep into, resulting in the perfect environment for hidden mold growth.
7) Dry out your shower items. Water accumulates under your shampoo bottles, conditioner bottles, body wash, etc and makes them the perfect spot for mold growth.
8) Mop the water on your floor after you shower.
9) Keep the bathroom well lit with adequate lighting or allow sunshine in.
10) Clean the bathroom regularly!
