I travelled from Cambridge to Luton for this repair and overall had a good experience, with a few things that could be improved.
The owner was very easy to approach and accommodating from the start. He allowed me to come on a specific day that suited me, which I really appreciated given the distance I travelled. My original plan was only to get the centre boot repaired, but he offered me a good price to do additional work, so I decided to get everything done at the same time.
I dropped the car off around 10:45am and was initially told it would take around 5–6 hours. Later when I checked again, I was told it would be ready by 6pm, but in the end the car was finished around 7:30pm. Waiting the whole day was a bit frustrating. I completely understand delays can happen, but it felt like too many jobs were being taken on at once. Even though I had booked a week in advance, same-day jobs seemed to be added as well, which probably affected timing. If it was going to take longer or even be a two-day job, clearer communication beforehand would have helped.
When I collected the car, the number plate light wasn’t working and the car showed a warning message. At first I was told to go to Halfords, but after I insisted someone checked it on site. Thankfully the bulb started working again the next day. The following morning I also noticed a small scuff mark, which I have messaged him about and am currently waiting for a call back.
That said, the owner was polite and helpful throughout, and the repair work itself looks good overall. With better time management, clearer expectations on timelines, and a final check before handover, the experience would be excellent.
I’m giving 4 stars for now, and I would happily update this to 5 stars if the remaining issue with the scuff mark is resolved.
