An apostille is a form of certification that validates authenticity of a document when using them in another country. It is essentially a way for another country to recognize your documents.
Apostilles are used by specific countries who are members of the Hague Convention which abolished the lengthy process that existed before 1961. Only countries that are part of it can utilize this method. The Hague Convention simplified the process. Currently there are 123 members in the Convention.
You need to get your underlying documents notarized before you can get them apostilled. Apostille cannot be issued by a notary. It is issued by a designated government officer.
We frequently apostille documents such as birth, marriage, death certificates, corporate entity documents, powers of attorney, real estate transactions. Passports, etc., etc.
If you need to use your documents overseas, you probably would need them apostilled in the US. Feel free to contact me.
