⚡ Electrical Safety Reminder – EV Charger Connection ⚡
A quick before and after from a recent repair job.
The original installation used 16A connectors on a circuit protected by a 32A MCB, supplying an EV charger.
As you can see, the incorrect selectivity led to significant overheating and melting inside the junction box — a serious fire risk.
I’ve replaced the entire connection with properly rated 60A connectors (these were the next size up I had available / in stock compared to the 32A MCB), ensuring both mechanical reliability and thermal safety for the load.
Always make sure your connectors and cable terminations are rated to match or exceed the protective device’s current rating.Correct selectivity and proper component sizing are essential for avoiding situations like this.
