Regrettably, we used this moving company and I use that term loosely. To say that I would never recommend this company again is a severe understatement! I have moved dozens of times and have never had an experience quite this bad!!!
Let me start by saying that this moving company showed up unprepared - ZERO moving supplies!!! I had to provide all Packing supplies, boxes, including shrink wrap, shipping tape, bubble wrap, moving blankets, the WORKS! Oh, and when I asked them how many boxes I needed they said 10! Really??? As you can tell, I had to buy boxes from Home Depot, Lowe’s, U-Haul And a storage company down the street from us. I ended up buying over 300 boxes.
I have so, so…. many examples that I can use, as to how horrible this experience was - but I will give you the cliff notes version. Packing highlights are as follows - lampshade in a box with a vase (lampshade versus vase what could possibly go wrong with this?) -Fortunately, I caught it & I repacked the box. Then they triple wrapped Tupperware (plastic) and didn’t wrap drinking glasses that ended up broken. (SHOCKER) Watch out, shipping tape is their universal wrap around delicate things like glasses, crystal vases. You know the kind that leaves residue all over everything and then you get to spend hours using goo gone to get it off. Yeah, that was lots of fun! But I’d have to say finding our sound bars and electronics wrapped in shipping tape was the ultimate discovery that truly lit my fuse. 🔥 it doesn’t come off and the tape took off the finish of each sound bar ($500 x 3) plus wrapped all the cords and speakers with it too! They didn’t know how to pack TV’s or electronics. Plus, we had some very delicate art, and they were clueless in packing them!!! When I asked them if they were counting the number of boxes and items being loaded on the truck, they look puzzled??? The answer they had no tracking system at all.
Their truck loading skills were equally horrible. When I challenged them on having furniture to provide a base, they didn’t have a clue as to what I was talking about.🙄 You have to have an equal balance of furniture and boxes to minimize shifting during transport. Point being the customer should not have to school the movers.
And finally, we conclude with the out-of-state move. This is another area that they are not even adequate in providing said service. It took forever to just get a move date. Once we finally got our date, planning their drive here was a complete disaster. It took us by car eight hours to get here - that’s with fuel stops, food, etc. They thought they could drive down with 2 moving trucks unload and drive back the same day (never going to happen)! I asked them at 9 AM if they had left yet. And of course they had not. I asked what their plan was and they said they would be at our house by 6 PM. I knew that was impossible due to several factors. Considering a truck cannot go as fast as a car plus the hurricane took out several roads so that makes the haul even longer (All variables, they did not even take into account). At that point, I was so over dealing with them I decided to make a bet with my husband, just for amusement sake. I said, I bet you they don’t show up until tomorrow. He told me that was a suckers bet, but he went ahead and bet me anyway. Low and behold, I got a call from them at 6 PM that their “truck broke down“ (I knew that was a lie because they left too late) and they would be at our house at 11 PM and they would unpack through the night because they needed the guys back in Nashville the next day. At this point, my husband was one ticked off guy and he rarely ever gets ticked off! They pushed the wrong button, he told them NO & that the owner can put the guys up in a hotel and they could arrive at our house in the morning. He also advised them that it was unreasonable to show up at our house that late at night and that our neighbors would call enforcement for being a public nuisance and disturbing the neighborhood! Needless to say, they backed off and said they would be there in the morning.
