To me, Melbourne is one of the most beautiful cities in Australia. Don’t get me wrong — I truly enjoy Sydney as well. But Melbourne carries a more laid-back, relaxed charm. If I were to draw a comparison, it feels somewhat like the difference between Boston and New York City — where Melbourne embodies that calmer, more understated sophistication. One attraction I highly recommend is the river cruise along the Yarra River. It’s like taking a scenic shortcut through the city, offering a unique perspective from the water. The tour guide spoke with genuine passion about Melbourne’s history and architecture, which made the experience even more engaging. On a beautiful day, the cool breeze as the cruise glides along the river is incredibly soothing. Occasionally, seagulls fly alongside the boat at the same speed, creating the illusion that they are suspended mid-air. It’s quite a magical sight — though it’s wise to stay mindful of bird droppings! From the river, Melbourne’s skyline looks stunning. The skyscrapers reflect beautifully against the water, giving the city a modern yet elegant feel. The cruise duration feels just right — not too long, not too short. I would recommend booking tickets in advance to secure your preferred time slot. It’s an experience I would gladly return for again.

What a lovely coast along Melbourne's Yarra River aboard MRC'S lovely Riverboat and a great way to discover Melbourne! The evening atmosphere was delightful as we watched the sun set over the city skyline. The four course dinner with wine was excellent in every way and served nicely by our very attentive and friendly hostesses Marie and Katie. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience in every way. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Enjoyable boat trip but with limitations. If sit inside - viewing is restricted as no glass ceiling. However get benefit of hearing the pre-recorded commentary. If stand outside - full visibility but not possible to hear the commentary. Introducing speakers do those standing outside can hear the commentary would improve the experience. Did not use the catering. Staff very cheery and helpful.

Melbourne River Cruises provide a relaxing way to see Melbourne's highlights from the Yarra—skyline, bridges, Southbank, gardens & more. Great commentary, comfy boats, friendly crew. City views are magical! Perfect for sightseeing or a special occasion cruise. Highly recommended for visitors especially for a relaxed experience... 5 stars

We had a good experience on the Dinner Rivercruise last night even though it rained heavily right through the cruise. The service & food was excellent & the staff were really attentive. There wasn't anything anyone could do about the weather which meant we only travelled a limited distance during our cruise. This was due to the high river level & not being able to get under bridges. But we still had our 3 hours on the boat & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Commentary was good, cruise started on time, got to see melbourne from a different angle and get a history lesson about the city. Recommend for first time visitors looking for a quick history scenic tour. Not a good photographer but tried to capture a few shots

Got the 2 hour bottomless Brunch afloat at $128/pp. First impression, thought it was the fancy red boat restaurant. Everyone else was fooled as we all lined up for it until we were diverted to the white one. By Google rating, 3 star is OK and I stand by my decision; OK food, OK service, OK view. I don't think getting more food would have been worth it. Note: - What you see in my photo is what you get for 2 people and you can't ask for more - You can atleast ask to get a soy sauce for the sushi. - Spirits drinks are separate out of pocket expense - No ciders available - Open windows was the only ventilation on the muggy warm day (26 degree with high humidity) but it also invites some water splashing - Doesn't feel like any ventilation in the male toilet that it felt better to hold off

Went for a one hourr cruise. The captain and his assistant were friendly. Weather was nice si had a wonderful tour which lasted an hour. You can go to the decks in both front and back of the boat to take pictures. There are some lovely views of the city from a couple of.points. You might see a seal.or two if you're lucky. Booking online in advance helps. Arrive 15 minutes early to get a seat near the window.
