Make a Financial Plan
It's important that you have a plan to support yourself during and after your divorce, especially if your spouse is the sole or main breadwinner in your household. Many couples share accounts, and it's not unheard of for a spiteful soon-to-be ex-spouse to cut off access to funds during a divorce. In addition, while temporary spousal support may be available, it may take weeks or even months to obtain a court order. For this reason, make sure you have access to a personal bank account (that you solely own) as well as access to credit.
