Collect Your Documentation
One of the most important things to do when you are getting a divorce is to gather documentation like your social security card, birth certificate, insurance cards, and passport. These documents are often necessary to do things like renting an apartment and opening a bank account. It's a good idea to gather these documents earlier rather than later; if you move out of the family home, it may be difficult for you to get them when you need them.
