Last week, I received a seemingly routine text requesting a property valuation. Life got busy, and I didn’t respond. On Sunday, I got a follow-up call from someone claiming to be the property owner. They confidently discussed the property and wanted to list it for sale.
At first, it seemed legitimate. But while preparing to call back, I found a different contact number for the owner. When I reached out, I realized something was off—the real owner’s voice didn’t match. The truth became clear: the initial caller was a scammer using stolen personal details to fraudulently list the property.
I alerted the actual owner and guided them on securing their property. This incident shows how easily scams can go unnoticed.
