I contracted Joe May to do the electrical work for a new hot tub I was excited for. Joe was able to run the wiring and get the hot tub up and running, but he was lacking the GFCI Disconnect Box that would bring the hot tub installation up to code. He told me he would order it and come back to install at a later date. I made the mistake of trusting Joe and paid the invoice in full, despite the job not being done. It has been 3 years now and it turns out Joe is not a man of his word and is dodging my calls/emails. Today I filed complaints with all the relevant Maryland oversight groups. There are a few occupations in this world where you really need to trust the person you are working with - doctors, dentists, mechanics, electricians etc. If you are looking for an electrician now, do yourself a favor and do NOT put your trust in Joe May.

Please read my entire testimony... May Electrical Services LLC with Joe May. Mr May is a master electrician, a professional, and has class-act customer serviceman. We called him on a Monday in the middle of the summer. At the height of what seemed to be a busy timeframe for service repair technicians. He usually has staff to do service for his company. This particular week, he didn't have any electricians to send out to my home. We lost power in key areas of the house with no clue on how it happened and how to fix it. Mr May, not only personally came to my home but he took the project on a Wednesday the same week. Especially, when other companies gave me a three to four week waiting period. Again, he was classy, professional, he thoroughly explained the issue and found a quick and simple solution. He's reasonably priced. With competitive hourly rates. Something that didn't break my piggy bank. If my family, my friends, or my neighbors asked if I could suggest any area electrician to utilize, I'd point them May Electrical Services LLC.

Mr. May arrived within the time window he gave me, was courteous, professional, quick, and neat. Price was reasonable and matched the estimate given ahead of time. I will definitely use May’s Electrical Services again. 5 stars!

I love supporting Black Owned Businesses. I was so stressed and needed an electrician for my breaker box since I lost power in two key rooms in the house. This professional returned my call and scheduled me for the following day. He came with a smile, completed the work with a smile, and left in under 40mins…with a smile. His professionalism, knowledge, and overall manner was everything I needed to save his number for future needs and will recommend him to anyone. Call, you will not regret it.

I would like to thank Mays Electric on a wonderful job which was recently performed. I’m very impressed with the customer service at which he beat out the local competitors and the quality or work is unmatched. When we set up the appt, I had already done my homework and researched but I did not know that Joe would take this project on as it was his own home. He made sure to take the time and use our vision as the guiding light for my project. Mr. May's was professional, communicative and did an EXCELLENT installation of our ceiling fans. So much so that we requested estimates for additional work. We were very pleased and highly recommend May's Electrical for any electrical work needing to be done. We also hired him to do our uplighting and driveway lights and they were done diligently, professionally and with excellent precision and courtesy. All of the work done was reasonably priced, communicated in advance and without any hidden or additional fees. He and his company colleagues are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and RESPECTED.

Mr. May is very professional. I needed him to secure an electrical cable at my garbage disposal and install an outlet. He sends text reminders of the appointments. He did the work quick and perfect. He is very knowledgeable. My condo had aluminum wiring. He knew the correct parts to use for that type of wiring. Mr. May is very kind and friendly. You can feel comfortable asking for his help on your electrical projects.

Joe May (owner) was polite when I spoke to him over the phone, and when he arrived. He was able to fit in my small project to his schedule quickly, which I appreciated. He did arrive late, but DC area traffic is difficult, as we all know. Once Mr. May arrived he seemed to work efficiently and installed the ceiling fan quickly. He explained which switches operated it and was very professional in sending me a digital invoice and receipt for my check. I think his fee was reasonable for the job he did. I will be happy to call him again when I need more electrical work done.

I was very happy with Joe's services. I called him on a weekend when no one else was willing to come out to my house. Mr. May came out promptly, did his work well and quickly, and did not charge me a lot for the weekend premium. I think he is a good honest man and an excellent electrician. I am happy to recommend Joe to my friends and will certainly call on him again when I need more electrical work done.

I was so proud to support this Black-owned business. I called Mr. May Monday afternoon and my two ceiling fans and flushmount light were installed by Tuesday evening. After he left, everything was as clean as it was before he got there. He's able to take electronic payments and send electronic invoices and receipts. He does great work and is very nice. I was so pleased with his work that I gave him a tip.
