Today our team completed a sealed-system repair on a rare Thermo Scientific ultra-low temperature laboratory freezer in the Sorrento Valley biotech area of San Diego, CA.

The customer reported unstable temperatures and active alarm warnings inside the unit. During diagnostics, we discovered a refrigerant leak in the sealed system that caused the freezer to lose cooling performance. These specialized laboratory freezers operate at extremely low temperatures down to -48°F and use a complex cascade refrigeration system with multiple refrigerants including R-404A, R-290, and R-508B.

Our technicians performed a full leak detection procedure, pressure testing, and sealed-system diagnostics to identify the failed section. After completing the repair, we recharged the system with the correct refrigerant blend and restored proper low-temperature operation. The freezer returned to stable cooling performance and is now operating normally again.

Because these Thermo Scientific ultra-low freezers are extremely expensive and critical for biotech, laboratory, pharmaceutical, and medical storage applications, we also ordered additional OEM components to complete long-term preventative maintenance for maximum reliability.

We specialize in Thermo Scientific freezer repair, ultra-low temperature freezer service, laboratory refrigeration repair, refrigerant leak detection, cascade refrigeration systems, and medical-grade freezer maintenance throughout San Diego County.
