A recent service call in La Jolla involved a built-in Miele refrigerator where the freezer section was operating normally, but the fresh food compartment was not maintaining proper temperatures. During testing, we measured approximately 46°F in the refrigerator section while the freezer remained near 0°F.
This Miele refrigerator uses two separate compressors and two independent sealed cooling systems. Our technician performed a complete diagnostic inspection and verified that the evaporator fans, controls, sensors, and airflow components were functioning correctly. Based on the temperature readings and system behavior, we determined the fresh food sealed system has likely developed a refrigerant issue.
Because Miele provides an extended warranty of up to 10 years on certain sealed-system components, we recommended that the customer contact an authorized Miele service provider before proceeding with any sealed-system repairs. Once a refrigeration system is opened, warranty coverage may be affected, and there is no reason for the customer to pay for a repair that could be covered by the manufacturer.
We provided a full diagnosis, explained our findings, and advised the customer on the warranty process. Only the standard $65 service call fee was charged for the visit.
