A recent service call in Rancho Santa Fe involved a Viking Professional dual-fuel range. The customer reported that the large oven on the right side had turned on by itself twice without any input. When the door was opened, the oven was already at approximately 450°F and the cooling fans were running, even though no cooking cycle had been selected.
When our technician arrived, the oven was completely non-responsive. After diagnostic testing, we confirmed a failed control board. An internal board failure can cause unexpected oven operation, false commands to heating circuits, and eventually complete loss of function.
For safety reasons, this issue should be addressed immediately whenever an oven begins operating on its own.
We discussed repair options with the customer. Depending on availability, we can either install a replacement Viking control board or rebuild the existing board at the component level. The customer is currently reviewing both options before making a final decision.
