I ordered the rice and goat meat, and it was incredible. The goat meat was so tender, just falling off the bone, and perfectly seasoned. That level of tenderness is something I’ve come to expect from good Somali restaurants, especially when it comes to goat, and Mama Safia’s definitely lived up to that expectation. The rice was aromatic and flavorful, and the portion size was generous—great value for the price.
What really made the meal stand out was the combination of soup and green sauce that comes with the dish. The soup was light and comforting, a perfect way to start the meal. But the green sauce? That’s where the magic happened. It was spicy, fresh, and absolutely addictive. I love spicy food, and this hit the spot without being overwhelming. It added such a kick to the rice and meat—I found myself dipping every bite in it.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, just like a home kitchen. You could tell the food was made with love and tradition. The service was friendly, and everything was served quickly, despite the busy lunch hour.
If you’re in Minneapolis and want to try authentic Somali cuisine, I highly recommend stopping by Mama Safia’s Kitchen. It’s a hidden gem that deserves all the love it gets. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in town!
