Inspect the Gutters
So before a big storm hits, it's important to do a quick gutters inspection. Make sure they're free of debris and that the downspouts are clear. If there are any obstructions, fix them right away. And remember to keep your gutters clean year-round. This is something you can easily do yourself, and it only takes a few minutes. Just make sure you have a ladder that's tall enough to reach the roofline.
Check the Trees
You should also check the trees around your house. If they're close to the roof, they could damage it during a storm. If you see any branches that are dead, or hanging too low, have them removed right away. Not only is this dangerous for your roof, but it's also a fire hazard.
If a natural disaster is headed your way, it's important to take some preventative steps to protect your roof.
In order to keep your roof in good condition, make sure you regularly:
- Check for any leaks or damage
- Clean your gutters and make sure they're free of debris
- Inspect your roof for missing or damaged shingles
- Replace any cracked or broken tiles
