IS MY ROOFING CONTRACTOR RIPPING ME OFF? NEW JERSEY CONTRACTOR ADVICE PART 2
4) Some contractors charge extra for items and additional fees or permits which should be included in the original estimate. Make sure to verify and ask is this a final estimate, / accurate estimate. Also, when replacing your roof, make sure the roofer takes pictures of the roofing deck, before and after, you want to make sure that they're not charging you for unnecessary sheets of plywood, and that if there is rotten wood, you're getting it taken care of. The only unknown cost for roofing is the roofing deck (wood of the roof), you never know how many sheets of plywood you need to replace until you remove the shingles. Make sure you require photos of before and after, most legitimate roofers will comply and be completely OK with that request! The best will show you before you even ask.
5)Look up reviews, find out what other people are saying about this contractor, how long they've been in business, how good are they.
And that pretty much sums it up! Hope this helps!
