Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria and quickly became a child prodigy under the instruction of his father Leopold, a prominent musician at the time. By age five, he was proficient in piano and violin and had begun to compose his own works.
Although his life was cut short by illness, Mozart managed to compose over 800 works. At the time of his death, he was working on 'The Requiem' which was later finished by a different composer.
Mozart's popularity only grew after his death in 1791 and today he is considered one of the most prolific classical composers.
