“Toned.”
Arguably one of the most destructive words in the fitness industry…yet one to which fitness enthusiasts and even professionals flock. Driven by the fear of “getting bulky” while in pursuit of getting “toned,” far too many people are getting weak.
Here’s what’s up…
“Getting toned” means “getting lean,” and “getting lean” means building muscle and eating with a purpose. Period.
Rewiring your mindset around strength training and its effect on your body composition isn’t easy—especially when the fitness industry has been force-feeding you myths about “bulky” vs. “toned” for years.
Start by erasing those words from your vocabulary. Replace them with one word: strong.
Commit to regular strength training and fuel your body with a protein-heavy, nutrient-dense diet that matches your activity and lifestyle. Do that, and the results will take care of themselves. Now let’s get to work.
