They might be out of date and not meeting the British Standards. TS007 standard for locks have been introduced in 2011, but it wasn't till 2015 that it became a requirement for new dwellings in England.
Any europrofile (usually found on upvc, timber and composite doors) locks fitted before that, most likely are not up to withstand the usual burglar atack, snapping.
A TS007 lock wil have enhanced security features like anti-snap, anti-drill, and resistance to picking or bumping.
A 3 star BSI TS007 will make it a lot more difficult for a criminal to quickly snap the lock and gain access. Note that even though the anti-snap lock will be effective at keeping burglars out, the lock will be unusable after an attempted break-in. You'll still need an emergency locksmith to fit a new one immediately. The anti-snap feature on a lock means a 5mm or more will be sacrificing and the cam will remain intact, protecting the locking mechanism.
