Today, I went to a house inspection which was listed on Realestate.com.au by this company (they operate under 'Different Property Management' on Domain.com.au). Despite there being 15+ people waiting outside the apartment to view the house, no agent turned up, and we received no email, despite signing up for the viewing. After 30 minutes of waiting, we realised no one was coming and all left.
Absolutely atrocious behaviour from this property agency. In this market, many of the people who visited will have taken time out of their days, and time off from work, to visit the property in the hopes of finding somewhere to live. The phone number on the listing didn't work, and buzzing the apartment didn't work either. In fact, based on the profile page of the company on Domain and RealEstate.com.au, it seems a bit of a scammy company. No profile pictures, no actual agents on the listings (just 'Leasing Team'), etc.
In summary, if you see a listing by this company or 'Different' when looking for a house, I would advise thinking twice before going to the viewing. Potential scam.
UPDATE A WEEK LATER: I want to respond to the message the owner added below. I originally sent this response to their email as I didn't want to argue on a public forum, but they have seemingly ignored my email.
Essentially, they clearly lied in their response:
- I arrived at 12.15pm (the start time) and Rebecca was nowhere to be found, as they state
- I received an email at 3pm on the day of viewing (2 hours after the inspection) about the inspection being cancelled.
- If it was a system issue, it wasn't just with me - there's were about 15 other people waiting to be let in too. It seems nobody was notified. I've added a photo taken at 12.21pm of the people waiting - and more arrived after.
I'm disappointed that, in their response, the company has tried to make it sound like it was our mistake, rather than admitted that they made an error. Do you really want us to believe that 15 people made the same mistake?
