Highly recommend. Russell diagnosed a noise as a wheel bearing issue for me and I stupidly booked elsewhere (due to slightly cheaper pricing and having had my WOF done with this other garage) and other garage proceeded to tell me there was no wheel bearing issue but instead had gearbox issue. Took it back to Russell who replaced the wheel bearing and the noise is now gone, and saved me a couple thousand on an unnecessary gearbox. Will be going to Lightening for my car needs now

10/10 Experience. Friendly staff, got onto doing my WOF for me immediately even though I was 15 minutes early. WOF was completed in 20 minutes, which is unheard of at least in my past experiences. Will be returning and 100% recommend!

Have used them a couple of times in last few years and they were always Honest and did a good job. Today Russel was able to help me with a last-minute appointment and work was done in less than 20 minutes. 5 Stars

Friendly receptionalist. Manager Russell is rude shouts when advising that the ABS pump was not installed. Two independent mechanicals and my petrol head friend confirmed there are no signs showing that. Russell did not offer to provide invoice showing the serial number for the ABS pump instead keeps shouting that I accused him of not installing it. I will be taking this to commerce commission. My ABS light still came on after leaving. Clearly the problem has not been fixed. The second light came after a day after arriving back to Auckland. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE AS THEY DON’T TAKE RESPONSIBLY.

DO NOT GO THERE, they said they replaced the ABS pump $220, on my friends car, then the light for ABS came back on. Two mechanics said that this company put back his old part, NOT a new one. Disgusting and illegal to charge for something that was NOT fixed. My friend called Lightning to advise, and instead of offering an apology or refund or replacement, he just got defensive and yelled at him. What a low blow. I am sending their details to the Commerce Commission because according to the reviews, this is not their first rip off!! Crappy customer service deserves crappy reviews like this!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO LIGHTNING TE RAPA. I moved to Hamilton from Palmy last year and found this place. I never had problems with my vehicle to this extent until I took it to these guys. They didn't listen to my concerns and when they gave my car back to me it was having the same issues despite spending 500 dollars on it. It was still bothering me so I took my money elsewhere and they were able to diagnose and solve the issue within the day. Absolutely ridiculous. When I came back to let them know that they didn't fix it, the guy at the front desk had a go at me saying I was picking a fight. I just wanted to let them know that I got the noise fixed and they should keep looking if a problem persists. TLDR: They don't fix the actual problem and when you tell them that they flip out and gaslight you.

My first choice for WoF and service. They are quick, friendly, and provide excellent service. Staff is helpful and let you know when your vehicle is ready for collection quick-smart. I definitely recommend them!

This is in response to the owner’s reply to my last review where he accused me of fabricating a story instead of accepting his team member’s mistake. Do they think they are the only ones doing WOF in Hamilton. I do have call records to show that I did call to make an appointment and they agreed to it giving me appointment for the following day at 2 PM. Then on the day of appointment, they refuse having any appointment under my name. They then start yelling and asking if I want another appointment or not instead of apologising or accepting that they forgot to put in my booking. Highly disappointed from the response of the owner to the last review. The owner should have tried to put in some effort to understand the situation better before blaming it all on the customer in last review. They definitely need to edit what they have written about themselves. They are neither honest nor they value customer service.
