Crosswalks Aren’t Force Fields.
We teach our kids to look both ways and use the crosswalk. But even when they do everything right, they are at risk.
As lawyers who have helped families for decades, pedestrian accidents are some of the most heartbreaking. A person walking has no protection against a 4,000-pound car.
Many people are shocked by this stat from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): A pedestrian was killed every 71 minutes in 2021. And many of these accidents happen away from an intersection, where people (and kids) are just trying to cross a street.
Why does this happen?
● Distracted Driving: A driver on their phone.
● Speeding: Someone going too fast in a neighborhood.
● Drunk Driving: A driver who is impaired.
● Failure to Yield: A car turning right on red that doesn't look for the person walking.
If you or your child is hit by a car, the driver's insurance company may try to blame you. They'll say you were "jaywalking" or "darted out."
Our job is to find the truth. We will look for security cameras, talk to witnesses, and check the driver's phone records. We are here to be a voice for you and your family.
