It’s Not “Just a Concussion.
March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month. This is personal for us because we see the devastation of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) every day.
Many people think you have to be knocked unconscious to have a brain injury. That is false. You can suffer a TBI even if you never black out.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that TBIs affect millions of Americans every year. The scary part is the "invisible" symptoms. You might look fine on the outside, but on the inside, you are dealing with memory loss, mood swings, or constant headaches.
Insurance companies love to downplay these injuries. They call them "mild." But there is nothing mild about losing your ability to focus at work or enjoy time with your family.
If you hit your head in a crash or a fall, don't let anyone tell you it's "just a bump." Get checked by a neurologist. We fight to make sure the insurance company pays for the long-term care your brain needs.
