Spilled Milk Aisle 4. Who Is Responsible?
Grocery stores are busy places. Things get spilled. Grapes fall on the floor. Water leaks from the freezer case.
If you slip on a spill and get hurt, the store might say, "We didn't know it was there!"
But here is the legal standard: Did they check the aisles often enough? Many stores have "sweep logs" where employees are supposed to sign off every hour that the floor is clean.
We check those logs.
If the log shows nobody checked Aisle 4 for three hours, the store was negligent. They failed to keep the floor safe for you. You shouldn't have to suffer with a back injury because the store was understaffed.
